RCC has a relatively new, very popular service called RCC Cloud Hosting. It has especially gained popularity recently due to the Covid uncertainties when many of our customers have needed or wanted to work from home (or anywhere!) due to safety/health concerns. We host your RCC FDS software data on our servers here in Bird Island, MN, keeping it safe and secure, and provide access to it from wherever you have an internet connection. RCC Cloud Hosting also makes the upgrade to RCC’s FDS Version 10 easier and more cost-effective (see the insider tip below!).
Migrating to the RCC Cloud
The RCC Cloud migration process is pretty simple, but does take some time to get everything prepped, planned and perfected. We start by making a Cloud Server just for the customer. Then we get the VPN and User Accounts created, as well as a Print Server prepped and shipped out. Then we connect up to the customers’ computers and connect them to the Cloud Server. We also get the Print Server configured as much as possible at this time. The next step is the transferring of the customer’s data from their server to the cloud server, which can take some time, depending on how much data needs to move. During this data move, the customer can be doing look-up only on their old server. Once all the data is moved to the Cloud Server, we shut down the software on the old server. The final step is the ‘perfecting’ stage, where we fix any issues, printer settings, etc., that the customer experiences.
After every Cloud move, our customers are usually extremely happy with the new setup! There is some getting used to it, as with any change. But after all the issues are straightened out and they get more comfortable with the new system, they all are happy to have their RCC data safe, secure and readily available from anywhere!
14 RCC CLOUD HOSTING MIGRATIONS IN JUST A FEW MONTHS
Our team completed 14 RCC Cloud moves during the summer of 2020 alone! The reason why we do so many in the summer is because RCC’s new FDS v10 software has pretty stringent hardware system requirements. We have also upgraded many customers to this new version, and switching to RCC’s Cloud Hosting Service means they don’t have to worry about their server or workstations meeting those system requirements. The Cloud Server we provide is already fully capable of handling the new FDS v10 software!
Insider Tip: If you are considering an upgrade to the new FDS Version 10 software, you can avoid the hardware requirements for your server and workstations by migrating to the RCC Cloud. The RCC Cloud is fully capable of handling the new FDS v10 software.
