Bringing RCC’s Spirit to Bloomington
As a Minnesota-born company with deep roots in Bird Island, being part of the Minnesota Propane Association’s Winter Convention holds special significance for RCC. Two of our own, Freddie Ridler (Head of Business Growth) and Kyle Sheehan (Co-Owner/Head of Sales & MOGO), were featured presenters, bringing their expertise and enthusiasm to fellow industry professionals.
Their joint presentation, “Connecting with Younger Generations,” brought the house down with what Nancy described as “110% energy from start to finish.” The duo shared practical insights on how propane companies can adapt to technological changes and engage the next generation of both employees and customers. Everything that embodies #makingpropanesexy.
Key takeaways from their presentation included:
- The evolution from a 60-second elevator pitch to an 8-second “elevator fall” to capture attention
- Starting small when implementing new technologies
- Using gamification as a reward system to maintain staff excitement
- Embracing AI tools that are already part of our daily lives
The inaugural propane olympics
One of the most talked-about events of the conference was the first-ever Winter Propane Olympics. What started with six teams quickly exploded to twelve as word spread about the fun happening in the game room!
Participants engaged in creative challenges including:
- Relay Tic-Tac-Toe
- Putting contests
- Tricycle obstacle courses
- Stacking cups while wearing oven mitts
- Carrying baby cylinders on wooden spoons
“A lot of team spirit and impressive attire including Kings & Queens,” reported Freddie. “Happy to report no one was injured, many laughs shared and bragging rights earned until next year!”
Propane Industry Hot topics
Beyond the festivities, the conference addressed several critical industry topics:
- Safety protocols and best practices
- Propane-powered vehicles and alternative fuel solutions
- Connecting with younger generations through technology
- Hiring strategies in today’s market
- Succession planning for family businesses
We were especially proud to see RCC customer Todd Kruegel of Kruegel Gas Service in Spring Valley, MN receive the prestigious G.F. Bursinger Award for his contributions to the industry.
Fueling Connections That Last
As we reflect on these three days of learning, networking, and celebration, we’re reminded of what makes the propane industry so special. It’s not just about fuel—it’s about people. Relationships formed, knowledge shared, and the passion that comes from being part of something bigger than ourselves.
“It was fun!! Always great to see people who we consider our friends in the industry!” shared Freddie, perfectly summing up our experience at the MPA Annual Conference.
As we return to our offices energized and inspired, we remain committed to our mission: creating innovative software solutions for fuel people, by fuel people. After all, that’s what makes propane sexy!
