Community spirit in action
If you were in Bird Island, MN, last Friday, perhaps you noticed the smell of sizzling taco meat wafting through the air. And perhaps you noticed that the smell was coming from the RCC parking lot! That was the work of the RCC Tumornators, a dedicated group within RCC. Their mission? To support patients of cancer and their families through fundraising initiatives that make a tangible difference within Renville County’s Walk in the Park.
Continuing a legacy of community involvement
The commitment to community involvement runs deep within RCC, passed down through generations.
Our grandparents made it an important priority to give back to the local area as much as they could to ensure that their children and grandchildren would have a great place to grow up. -Holly Peterson, 2nd Generation Owner
RCC ownership finds it especially important for a cause like Renville County Walk in the Park, where you know you are making a difference in peoples’ lives that are going through a challenging time, especially because they never know when it could be one of their staff or family members.
Fundraising Success: Walking taco feed
Driven by a competitive spirit and a desire to amplify their impact, the RCC Tumornators organized a community-based fundraiser, highlighted with a favorite food of many: TACOS! With the support of the entire team and staff at RCC, the event exceeded all expectations.
The feed saw over 170 meals served and raised over $2000 for Walk in the Park. This was made possible through the generous contributions of community members and RCC itself. A special thanks to Tom Neubauer (Sales) and friends, as well as RCC’s very own Carl Youngkrantz (Support), who donated some of his beef to keep costs down. This allowed 100% of the proceeds to go directly to Walk in the Park. Additionally, Brett Welsh (Dev Team) and Sandy Padrnos (Admin) deserve tons of recognition for their tireless efforts in cooking the delicious taco meat that fueled the fundraiser.
RCC Tumornators Continue to support the cause
But the RCC Tumornators’ efforts don’t stop there. The team has embarked on a cookbook initiative to further support the cause. Led by Jessica Balderston (2nd Generation Owner), the cookbook has over 100 recipes in it from RCC staff members across the country. Cookbooks will be $25 with every purchase going directly toward supporting the Walk in the Park organization and its vital work. The cookbook will be available for purchase at upcoming events, including the Customer Seminar in June and the Walk in the Park event in August. But if you can’t wait that long, you can pre-order your RCC cookbook now by calling RCC at 320-365-4027 or by emailing Darin at [email protected].
The RCC Tumornators also invite you to attend the Walk in the Park event on Friday, August 1st at Nester Park in Olivia, MN. Stay in touch by following Walk in the Park on Facebook!
